1. I made Bon Appetit’s Slow Roasted Salmon with Fennel, Citrus, and Chilis for dinner tonight. It was delicious after it was made, but there must have been a typo in the recipe, stating to roast it at 275 for 40 minutes for medium rare. That temperature for that duration didn’t even come close to bringing this to medium rare. I wound up bumping up the temp to 400 for another 15 ish minutes, and it finished at a nice medium rare, capable of being spooned up. FYI if you are going to make it.
2. Scroll rods. I finally bought some! Luckily the ladies at Craft Center Stitchery are so helpful, and they helped me figure out just what I needed. I don’t know how I ever lived without them for my huge stitching projects.
3. Since Mad Men is going into its last season, I thought I would re-watch the series. I can’t get over how amazing this series is. I don’t know that I will ever tire of it. Watching the series in retrospect is fascinating because it is, in many ways, so prophetic. Seeing how characters have developed over time is so interesting, and I think my favorite overall character is Peggy. I can’t wait to see how things unfold for her this last season.
4. Someone abandoned their multi-tiered bird feeder when they moved out of their apartment. They did, however, come back and drop off the bird food (why not just take the bird feeder since it stakes into the ground??). Since they dropped off the food, no one has taken the onus of refilling it, so I finally did. Of course I had to do so on a rainy morning so it was all over me. I’m glad I did though, since I really enjoy watching the birds when I take the dogs out. It reminds me of when my brother made some hanging bird feeders out of 2 liter soda bottles, but some mourning doves got stuck in the openings, and my dad had to cut them out! HA!
